Bellas pups were born 8th January, 2012. She was working only half an hour before the first of 7 pups was born. Our dogs are an essential tool in our Cattle business. We only keep and breed the good ones. Loyal, obedient, intelligent and tough. Photos of our working dogs are all through our website as we use them daily. Congratulations to Paul and Lisa Laycock and family, of High Country Droughtmaster Stud, on their purchase of 10, 12 month old registered Wajatryn heifers. They plan to grow these females out and join to some of the impressive Sires their Stud now owns.

We are very pleased with our 2011 Droughtmaster National Sale results. The sale, at Rockhampton on 13th and 14th September, saw us achieve second and third top prices from a yarding of 500 bulls. All results of prices paid and buyers are on our 2011 DN sale page.
Our top was for 22 month old Wajatryn Emperor. Selling to Redskin Stud for $48,000. Our second top was for 31 month old Wajatryn Dynamite. Selling to Anglezed Stud for $36,000. Of the 16 bulls 12 went to repeat buyers.

We are very pleased with the results of this years Scans and Semen Tests. We take particular care in the preparation of our bulls to see them ready for work now. They are not over done. They are paddock reared, crop prepared (leucaena and oats) bulls with a final 8 weeks access to Riverina Pellets. Carcase scans show good even fat cover. Semen Tests average 80% accross the draft. Good Nut Sizes, averaging 39.7cm. EMA average 126cm on a Draft of young Milk and 2 tooth bulls.

Every year we sell around 50 Registered and 50 droughtmaster commercial unjoined heifers on property at Wajatryn. This years Draft of No. O registered and commercial heifers have all sold. No. 1 heifers will be available for inspection and sale from late 2011.
The 2011 sale was held in Biggenden on 31st March at Burnett Livestock and Realty Yards. Judge was Kev Perkins, KJAL Feedlot. Total yarding 678 head. We pride ourselves on the commercial relevance of our cattle. Wajatryn Steers were First in their Class, 300-400kg. Wajatryn Heifers were First in the Over 300kg class. These heifers were also judged to be Champion Pen of Females from a total of 346 females in the sale. They made top price of 237.2 cents per kg. Wajatryn Beef Bulls sell year round. In May we entered Bullocks in the first Burnett Livestock and Realty, Biggenden Prime Cattle, all breeds, Show sale. Having won several classes, we were very pleased to receive the purple ribbon for Champion Pen of Bullocks.

To read article on our bulls click here . This year's bulls are also showing pleasing weight gains and semen test results. All 2010 Paddock Sale Bulls currently at Wajatryn were semen tested on 7th May and have top quality semen. All paddock bulls meet Society Standards for semen quality and scrotal sizes and come with full vaccinations. Bulls will go onto oats by the end of May.
As we say in the 'cattle management' and paddock sales sections of our website. Once weaned our bulls are sent to a good scrub bullock/grower paddock near Gayndah. We select on performance and draft the bulls that are 'going to make it' after about 6-8 months and bring them to Wajatryn. We have 50 bulls now on our leaucaena. "Preparing them for long working lives" Oats have been planted to finish bulls in winter.
Following on from our first and second, with heifers, at the 2009 Southern Queensland Droughtmaster Store Show and Sale.
Our commercial heifers again proved popular in 2010. The sale was held at the Biggenden, Burnett Livestock and Realty yards. Wajatryn Pastoral Company won First for 300 kg class and second in the under 300kg class. The Wajatryn draft of 40 , No. 9 heifers topped at 192.2 cents per kg or $639.
Earlier in the year, following a dry end to 2009, Milk tooth, Wajatryn steers sold for 186.2 cents or $878.
